Why do theists attack atheists when they ask for ‘proof’ of their religious beliefs? They often respond by telling you that only ‘faith’ is required. This of course is ridiculous. Here's a real world example: Would a policeman forgo proof in favor of faith when trying to solve a murder? I would hope not!
