Seneca the Younger 4 b.c.- 65 a.d. Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.

Please give the origin of this quote. I have seen it in many places but no-one identifies the paper in which it is written or the Latin original. I suspect it is not a real quote: that is why I have refused to use it - and other apocryphal quotes - on my website.
