There is something very simple here, but less understood or acknowledged, that is that god is necessary, useful and ultimately all worthy of contempt. He is necessary in that people harshly judge there own judgement as simple, too humane, to controlled, people fear their own ignorance and so god supplements such with a book that shares many accounts of what one must do, as usual people fall for the pressure that one mans opinion, or in this case how he should live his life, is outdown by what more than one person thinks he should do.
God is useful, in the sense that he is useless. he is primitive, a beast, a monarch, a ghost. he can be used to scare the children into shape, to bring hope to those who are surely damned and to give purpose to those so ignorant that they see no purpose in the first place.
lastly, God is worthy of all contempt, indeed all contempt. He is a tyrant, he cares not for the people, he is simply there, always at the top, always looking down. He has all the deadly sins attributed to him, all the human flaws you and i have, he has lust, fear, hate, ironicly proven we are of his image, phychologicly and physicly. He expands his hate like we do, he moves into things that do not concern his dictation, he stops science, he crushes socialism, he starts wars, he rapes and pillages. If God were a man, he would be out of place, in his ivory tower, with his crown and his robes, beating the muslims and foreign cultures, castrating those who pick from the wrong apple trees, and ultimately being a total douche
