My daughter came home from school one day and told me that her teacher taught her the story of Balaam and his donkey. Apparently, this Balaam character used to beat his donkey and after the third day, the donkey spoke to him and asked him why he was beating him. My daughter was obviously very perturbed by this; not by the abuse by the way; and then proceeded to tell me that it must be a fairytale as donkeys cannot speak. I couldn't help but smile to know that I was raising an intelligent child.......
