I believe (isn't it funny to hear an atheist say believe) this is one of the biggest conundrums in Christianity: God created us with free will, but then he created Satan (the snake) to tempt us, and of course, having created us, knowing human nature and the future, he let us be tempted, (and then he gets upset, chucks a tantrum and throws us out of Eden). So, not only did he arrange for Adam and Eve to fail in Eden, but he never gave us a chance to be anything but what we are.
So moving on the the future, now, the bible and church say: God gives us free will, but, in order to go to heaven, we have to use our free will to give up our free will and live the way God wants us to. BUT, if we use our God-given right to our free will, its fine, you'll just go straight to hell do not pass go do not collect $200 dollars...
Did I miss something here? Or did the dictionary simply get the meaning of free will wrong? |

Just one question pertaining to the idea or concept of God as Creator.
Creator, of all living things, a DNA code for all living things???? seedlings from a tree, contain information, the design of the body, this is what I wrestle with, the heart, veins, our eyes which reflect the beautiful world thru a lens!! Our body is perfectly designed to function and last for years! On purpose!!! not by accident?????
Christians often say, atheists, only hate God because they refuse to be held accountable, at the same time they lay claim to Jesus died for our sins so we don't have to pay!!! His blood covered it all!!! So if this is true, why make the accountablity claim???
Some guy hanging bloody on a cross in front of his creation, saying I'll see you later!!! Don't worry, I will return! in Honor?? He even claims to have done us a favor!!! by having done so!!
MAKES ME SICK!!

Their belief in Jesus gives them an indefatigably sympathetic confidant, assuages their fear of death and bereavement, wards off existential angst, assures cosmic purpose, and aligns them with the good guys. So handsome are the psychological pay-offs of belief that many, perhaps most, devout orthodox Christians are impervious to all countervailing logic and evidence. Their will to believe vanquishes every disquieting fact, every contrary line of reasoning, no matter how compelling to an impartial eye. Psychologists have a frightening arsenal of terms for the mental habits designed to preserve cherished beliefs: dissociation, absolutist thinking, dichotomization, object permanence, nominal realism, phenomenalistic causality and worse. |
