So when you say god doesn't make mistakes, you mean he meant to give aids to babies. He meant to kill millions with disease. He meant to wipe out 99% of all species that have ever existed. He meant to create a universe in which 99.99% of it cannot support complex life (us). He meant to create us with with only one hole to breath and eat through, causing thousands to choke to death every day.
Sounds like a bit of a cunt to me. |

Okay, let me explain: I don't think people who believe in God are insane. I think if you need that presence in your life to do better for yourself and others, all the power to you. I don't need a big fancy house in the sky or the promise of "happily ever after with God" to keep me doing the right thing. I know without doubt that there are plenty of "Christians" who wear that title with pride and wave it in my face, but do everything against the law of Christ they've sworn to obey. So, yes, I am an Atheist. I don't expect everyone to agree with my religion (or lack thereof), but I do expect people to be respectful just like I am when people say they are Catholic, Christian, Buddist, etc. It's quite aggravating when Christians are always so quick to tell me about their beliefs, but even faster to close their ears to mine. I have beliefs, they just don't involve your God, your Devil, your Heaven, or your Hell. Does that mean that mine are wrong? No. Don't get me wrong, I believe in the moral values presented in the Bible, but why does one need the fear of eternal damnation to not steal, or kill, cheat on their spouses? I don't. And that is why I'm an Atheist. Not just any Atheist, a proud one. |

Christians, let’s get one thing straight… Atheists are not angry with your god. We never have been. We simply don’t believe in him or any other gods for that matter. |
|
Dr. Idel Dreimer |
The atheist has no preconceptions -- he reads the text of the universe as it appears -- and there are no explanatory footnotes. It is the theist who proposes an explanation; thus, he must bear the burden of proof. That proof is invariably what somebody said a long time ago. (Observation #1749) |
