When we were young our parents encouraged us to use our imagination. We had Grimm's fairy tales and Mother Goose nursery rhymes. We had Easter eggs (from the Easter bunny!), the tooth fairy, witches riding high on Halloween, storks to deliver us, Santa to deliver us presents on Christmas etc. etc. Slowly we realized that all were make believe and we relinquished the magical spell cast upon us by leprechauns and elves. All save one, that of god. But a lie is a lie regardless of the comfort derived from perpetuating a belief in it.
