seems to me that prayer is nothing more than trying to strike a deal |

I'm an atheist. Personally, I don't care if you believe or not. Truth is indifferent to opinion. |

When we were young our parents encouraged us to use our imagination. We had Grimm's fairy tales and Mother Goose nursery rhymes. We had Easter eggs (from the Easter bunny!), the tooth fairy, witches riding high on Halloween, storks to deliver us, Santa to deliver us presents on Christmas etc. etc. Slowly we realized that all were make believe and we relinquished the magical spell cast upon us by leprechauns and elves. All save one, that of god. But a lie is a lie regardless of the comfort derived from perpetuating a belief in it. |

Moral high ground is the province of the atheist. Immortality is adjudged to be superior to mortality, else religion wouldn't stand a (holy) ghost of a chance. I choose to be an atheist as a LESSER of two evils. I submit that God is contrary to our nature. If you concede the point that the only thing we truly succeed at as a species is the poisoning of the planet and you insist on a supernatural causality as a pre-condition for our existence, I suggest you reconsider which being we truly serve. The choice is yours; either admit to being a vassal of the dark Lord or concede you're merely mortal and dispense with religious pretense once and for all.

man is the only creature capable of destroying all within his means. at this point in time the biosphere is included in the scope. no other creature can or probably would be as capricious as we. the question of whether or not god exists is irrelevant. god is necessary to forgive us for what we are. |

it's hard to revere that which one considers a construct. |

An elegant proof of the nonexistence of god is the existence of man |

We had awakened their lust, offering them a secret that couldn't have been emptier, because not only did we know it ourselves, but even better, we knew it was false.
