Someone just advised me that it is never too late to seek God. Ahem!
If I were to spend the rest of my life in search of god I STILL would be without god. Not only that but if I DID "find him(?)" I would be as mentally disturbed as the rest of the bible thumpers.

Religion is the great salesman of snake oil, the pious pitchman of healing nostrum, the pretending purveyor of chimerical panacea: it speaks of an oasis where, to the horizon, stretches an unbroken sea of sand, of a voice where there is only silence, and of truth where there is only unfathomable mystery.

After death can't be much different than before birth. Nothing. In heaven, can you imagine listening to the harmonica or what ever it is that angels play for an eternity? I can't even stand it for more than 5 minutes here on earth. |

As a child I had a deep fear of the monster that lived in my closet. I would lose countless nights of sleep cowering beneath my blankets because of the invisible menace that plagued me. It wasn't until I found the courage to turn on the light and see for myself that my fear of the closet monster left me. As an adult I had a deep fear of the God that watched my every move. I would lose countless nights of sleep cowering beneath my blankets in fear of the countless sins I was being judged for. It wasn't until I found the courage to seek true knowledge that I was able to free myself from the closet monster living in my mind. In that regard Jesus was right when he said "The truth will set you free". |

I'm an atheist but I'm NOT anti theist! I only feel sorry for them.
They've had their brains so manipulated and filled with rubbish that they are akin to zombies: and that isn't THEIR fault but the fault of the society they were brought up in.
I was fortunate and managed to escape the clutches of goddists. I now worship at the altar of family. My family, friends and neighbours are more important to me than any imagined god.
I wouldn't give ANY (and there are many) god(s) the time of day 'cos every minute spent in prayer is a minute wasted and our time on Earth is short and precious. |

I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own--a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the indivudal survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms |

Atheism is NOT a religion. Atheists have no special meeting places, no ritualistic acts, no holy book, no pastors, priests, rabbis, or shaman. In fact, we're often from diverse backgrounds with many different interests. What we do have in common, however, is that we do not believe in a god or gods. It's that simple. |
