I would never say theists are weak wimps, though I would have to admit they are very easily led. After all, the proof is in the pudding. They've been led up the Garden of Eden path, fed on a load of rotten fruit and become intoxicated. Some day soon they may sober up.

Unknown Well… God created the universe some billion years ago. Then noticed earth and started to fashion human over it some hundred thousand years ago and started to speak to them some thousands years ago! Ok, reasonable scheduling! But what is he gonna do after all?
Eddie G Since manevolved, he has created thousands of ''Gods'' and will continue doing so until he ''maybe'' gets wise.
The Letter of James Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

I believe that there is SOME truth in that newly discovered "God Spot" in the brain.

Some of us have godspots bigger than others. Mine happens to be the size of rice grain whilst some people have godspots the size of coconuts.

I further believe that massaging the godspot makes it bigger and stronger. Maybe soon, those extra large godspots will expand to such a size that the heads might explode. I live in hope.

I never thought I'd be saying this but I'm warming to theism.

The reason?

I watched a programme on BBC TV last night called "The End Of God. An Horizon Guide To Science And Religion" (catch up with it on BBC iPlayer) After rubbishing the concept of gods it came up with a perfectly understandable explanation as to why the belief in gods is manifest amongst humankind and why it will persist even if it were to be PROVED that gods do not exist. It's an area of the brain that's been named "The God Spot". A sort of "comfort blanket" if you like.

So I have arrived at the conclusion that I will no longer knock these beliefs as I have now realised that faith in your particular god is there purely as a form of succour. Though I have to admit that in the wrong hands this "comfort blanket" can stifle, smother and even kill.

What gets me in all this religious piffle is why, if it's to be believed, any god would create the universe and everything else then sit on his hands for 13+ BILLION years before creating his Master Race.
anthony hinte It's really as simple as this... Why would a perfect being with unlimited creating abilities.... Well why would he create something like humans? He must of known we were gonna eat the Apple.... For gods sake I mean... Lucifer influenced us to eat the Apple. Lucifer was once gods right hand man... I think they conspired this little fiasco together...

I truly believe that we can travel faster than light enabling us to journey backwards and forwards in time on our every whim. For I believe in the Starship Enterprise and The Doctor. But GODS!? Naaaaar! They are much TOO fanciful.
Dr. Sane How is it that "God" said Let There be light, Or whatever he said in human language, ( weather latin, english etc...)when every person knows that MAN created language( it's one of our achievements). Or did he create man, then wait til we made a language then create the world... Haha what a load of crap.

Never put your trust in gods. Put your trust in those you trust, instead. No god can DO anything. Only humans can DO anything.

Aye, aye, Captain. It's nay good having an imaginary rudder.
Jordan Gill Those with religions would argue that having no religion gives us no moral basis. How about karma, keeping friends, building a good reputation, being liked for your actions, the betterment of society, and helping the progress of humanity (and all with nothing to do with religion)? How's that for a moral basis?

Dustin Sometimes I wish religion was true so I can talk to my dead family and friends one more time.It sucks to know I will never get to ever again.
cody people say that the "lord" will fulfill your life and give you purpose. i'd rather work all day sunday just to give a homeless man or women my whole pay check. helping others fulfills my life, i hope reading a book and talking to yourself does the same for you.

Myself To fight pain, you fight pain itself by either ignoring it, or trying to figure out a way to cure the pain. Try to "pray to god" for help won't do any good for you.

Benjamin Bowden Benjamin Bowden If I gave you 1 million dollars to help an old lady cross the street then told you if you don't ill shoot you? Did you make a moral judgment? I contest that religious people are the only ones on earth who lack morals because to make a moral judgment for fear or promise is no moral judgment in fact its the same logic that let the Nazi's thrive. You sir are immoral.

Childhood conditioning has EVERYTHING to do with belief in EVERYTHING, including gods, fairies and the afterlife. That's what children's brains are for.

The baby's brain is a virtual blank canvas on which the adult attempts to paint the very same picture that HIS/HER canvas contains. The growing child's brain takes on this information whether it be right or wrong. This is mostly OK. We teach them to walk, talk, write, do arithmetic, wipe their own backside and eat with utensils etc. But we should NOT teach them rumour and false stories about gods. This can be very damaging when taken to the extreme.

Children can be taught the difference between right and wrong without resorting to threats that the Bogey Man/God will come and punish them if they don't behave.
D Martin they say "never question a man's faith" I say "had he asked questions years ago, he wouldn't believe in the crap he does today"
Benjamin Bowden How rare it is that everything is how it is. How foolish you are that you believe we could not have this conversation in a different language. We are what we are because things are the way they are not the other way around. If that confuses you its probably the reason you don't laugh at the idiocy of your bible
Corvanthe OK, so answer me this... Is it wrong in gods eyes to fuck my sister or daughter?... I agree. So its a sin then? What did adam and eve's kids do.... ok ok, what did noahs grandkids do. Seems to be a reoccurring trend for god to set us up to fail then get all pissy. Perhaps and just a thought here. Making mistakes is not only human but extends to all humanity creates including a god of omnipotence.

I've just looked up the word "Cretin" in my dictionary: someone mentally deficient by birth [synonyms] half-wit; idiot; imbecile, moron; retard; simpleton; subnormal; theist [a believer in deities*]

* OK, I added that last one, but only because it had obviously been missed out.
John Kenneth Galbraith, economist (1908-2006) Faced with the choice between changing one's mind and proving that there is no need to do so, almost everyone gets busy on the proof.
DAVE DUCHENE the fact that noah supposedly rose an ark big enough to carry that many animals is illogical for an infinate number of incredibly stupidly visible reasons 3 of which i will give you
1 itd have to be stupid huge im talking you look at it and you think derp because it stupifies you souly through its size
2 he had no where near enough time to build something that big were it even possible to keep it stable
3 there is not a sufficeint gene pool for which the animals to reproduce from using only 2 from each species once the flood was over
4 if they collected two of each kind of animal were it even possible that would mean that there would be no new species appearing today because they were totally the masters of science and everything real right
5 they would need a kind of super wood because if they actually were in a "great flood" that boat would have been rotted to hell (no pun intended)
6 whered the boat go because boats of such a ginormous size just up in thin air right is it gonna come back down if something like that ever happens again
7 whered all the water go at that time the glaciers were still frozen which means it didnt come from there so what did god just pull it out of his ass or something
NoGods4Me Without religion, people would have one less thing to fight and kill each other over. NO RELIGION, KNOW PEACE!

I wish more people of note would be prepared to come out of the closet, speak their minds and bugger the feared consequences. If - let's say - our UK Queen and the U.S president were to "come out" and admit that the holy books are plainly hysterical fiction populated by a few historical facts, more people would sit up, take note and rethink.

Godbotherers cannot grasp the age of the known universe.

They just cannot understand that the universe is around THREE times the age of the Earth and that implies it's about 14,000,000,000 years older than Mankind and Man has been around just a few years longer than those imagined gods.
