wilywilf does have a good point. I think internationally its always perceived as a 'British thing' when in fact a good populate of this Island disagrees(we are not all English). On a religious note the English were almost entirely responsible for the crusades, not the other three nations here. I'm Scottish so I know what he means. It's a strange concept to understand from afar but simply put; if an american wins gold at olympics he is a truly great american, however, if a scotsman wins gold, he is a truly great Brit! Had it been a disaster he would have been a truly bad Scot!!! This ancient rule carries right across the board, from wars to religion...blame someone else. The English have long press-ganged for wealth and power. |

Obviously you are not UK Alex, you would understand me otherwise. Not every Muslim has a bomb, nor every Irishman an I.R.A terrorist. Scotland, Wales & Ireland have fought for a thousand years in this country against English rule/policy. Against the same things you are describing. If America commits any act through American policy then America takes any responsibility. Here blame those people who make rules-the English, for the other three countrys in UK have no say. If Britain goes to war, then the rule is we have welsh scottish English & Irish who fight for the English under oath and law. Here in Wales we dislike the English for the carnage their kings have inflicted on us over the ages, scotland and Ireland feel the same. You could be right with your fact alex, but I disagree when you say it was British. The English sounds more correct, since here it has always been an entirely English policy making government. Scotland, Wales, & perhaps Ireland somewhat slightly less today, have had to endure English rule. In America they are all Americans under one flag, as one. I don't know where you live, I'm presuming you are not U.K, but here there are four flags. An American is always American but being British means you could be any of the other flags, but never had a say in policy making. The English government have a lot to answer for, including your topic, but lets not tar the entire British for English political blunders. |
