When I feel truly safe & secure I can be open. Being open means not being a control freak,to stop holding on with my mind. When thoughts no longer get in the way, if you can put the ego aside a shift to something utterly different can occur. You accept reality as it is, but without value judgments this is a very bodily based experience. You can experience a sense of unity but it has nothing to do with gods or religions it is what it is. Why do I as a atheist celebrate Xmas and Easter? I've just done what the fellow Christians did have supplanted it. I've made them into a celebration of love for all children of the world. After all this world is pretty much a cruel world ( in part thanks to religion/spiritualism ) so why shouldn't we set those days aside for as a true international day(s) of children.
